Stiftelsen 1825 in new growth phase - Caroline Stiernstedt Sahlborn appointed Secretary General
This year, the 1825 Foundation has undergone an organizational transformation, expanding its operational activities and accelerating growth through new projects. In light of these developments, the Board has appointed Caroline Stiernstedt Sahlborn as the new Secretary General, effective January 1, 2025. Caroline joins from her role as Partner at The Inner Foundation.
Since last spring, the 1825 Foundation has been dedicated to strengthening its core mission of promoting mental health and reducing mental illness among emerging adults, both individually and at the community level. This new appointment marks the next step in the Foundation’s growth journey, positioning it to play an even more active role in supporting the well-being of emerging adults.
"Caroline’s unique skill set and experience make her the ideal leader to steer the Foundation into its next phase," says co-founder and Chairman Annika Sten Pärson. "With a strong background in cross-sector initiatives and expertise in systemic change, Caroline brings exactly what 1825 needs at this moment. At The Inner Foundation, she evaluated innovative solutions for our focus group both in Sweden and internationally, an experience that will be invaluable to 1825. Our commitment to individualized support—rather than one-size-fits-all tools—has been at the heart of our mission since 2019, helping over 1,500 emerging adults on their journey toward better mental health."
Emerging adults in need of support often fall between the gaps in the current mental healthcare system, where they can struggle to receive adequate help due to limited options and the gap between adolescent and adult psychiatry. This need was the driving force behind the creation of the 1825 Foundation.
“I am excited to lead the 1825 Foundation and build on its core mission,” says Caroline Stiernstedt Sahlborn, incoming Secretary General. “The demand for our work is increasing daily. I hope my experience will help us bring more attention to the unique challenges faced by emerging adults, recognizing them as a distinct group in need of tailored support. My goal is to ensure that more emerging adults can access help on their own terms—not just in Stockholm but, eventually, across Sweden.”
